We chat with Australia’s most loveable media presenter, Ash London.

Ash London wears many media hats. With a career spent interviewing some of the world’s biggest celebrities during her role with 2DayFM to travelling the world, attending gigs and starting her own podcast, The Ash London Podcast – she’s a busy lady!

We sat down and chatted with Ash about her media journey, how she steps back and takes care of herself and how she finds balance between motherhood (she recently had her baby, Buddy!) and the media world.

What is your 'self-care' mantra? Do you have any words of advice that you like to live by?

“Living by self-care is a necessity, not an indulgence. As women (especially those with children), I think there's this misconception that we need to give everything and put everyone else's needs before our own. I believe that to be the best version of myself for my family, my work and my friends - I need to take care of myself first and foremost!”

Talk us through any rituals you have that promote a sense of health and well-being? Why are these important to you?

“To ultimately relax and unwind, I get a massage every week or two. I've been seeing the same woman for years (her name is April) and she knows my body very well now! I've always suffered from migraines and she helps ward them off.  I couple this with acupuncture, which was especially helpful during my pregnancy!

I also make sure I move my body: daily yoga is a must, as is some fresh air. All of these things help get me out of my stressful head and stop me thinking about things I can't control (like the future!)”

How do you unwind and relax after a long day at work?

“A heart to heart with my husband, 30 minutes of yoga, a bath, or a walk. Nothing too fancy.”

If you were stuck on a desert island, what are three items you would bring to help you get by?

“I would bring my phone to connect with friends and family, a speaker to play music/podcasts, and my pillow - I really hate soft pillows!”

In society, self-care has often been viewed as a luxury, rather than a necessity. Do you think that needs to change?

“Yes, yes, yes, YES!  If we all show up as the best, healthiest versions of ourselves then I truly believe it makes for a healthier, happier society.”
